is he in training, deployed or what? and don't take this the wrong way, but when you only have a limited amount of time to use the phone or write, most likely you are going to chose your family. i can speak from experience, i just completed training. i was gone for six and a half months with limited phone privileges. the first person i called was my mom to check on my kids. and so you know, the Red Cross is for emergencies ONLY, like a death or someone is deathly ill!! it's not used just b/c you can't get ahold of a boyfriend. that is frowned upon...at least the part of the military that i came from it was.

Ashley,
Even if you don't have his SSN, try the Red Cross anyways; They may still be able to find him, but it may take a little longer without the SSN.

Then too, they may be able to offer you an 'alternative way' of finding him without recourse to using the SSN.

Sarah,
As far as this being 'shifty'...My only response of course being: "Due to the nature of this circumstance, I am unable to comment on this topic." (a typical 'military response' - can you tell?)...

Good Luck Ashley!

wow that was a brilliant and shifty idea ianw3... Ashley you should so try it and be sure to let us all know how it turns out. P.s. I don't know how many people would admit to it, but I completely understand where you are coming from. it is obsessive to say the least, but hell it is just the way it is. surely not healthy, but then again honestly who is truly mentally healthy when it comes to emotions revolving around relationships???Do what you've got to do to find peace with this chapter of your life... to close the chapter so you can begin a new one.

Ashley,
Not a whole lot to say here...this being the information age, I find it hard to accept that a young man can go 5 months without communicating with his girl back home....

Unless of course, he has 'other interests'...it takes 5 minutes to make a phone call, maybe 10 to send an e-mail;

As to finding him - If you truly want to find him, notify the Red Cross - You would need his full name, and SSN; They will contact the navy direct, and have him contact you. As to reason why (should the Red Cross ask): "Family member under emotional duress" is what you would need to say (The red cross has to have a justification for finding him in this method)...

Good Luck!
