I am sorry your brother n law wasn't able to come home for his childs birth, I am sorry you got injured to, I am married to a military man myself and he just returned from iraq in oct and had a guy in his unit get hurt but no loss of life thank goodness, Everyone that goes and does what they do are very important in what they do for the military, they may think of it as a small or not at all important job but it is of great importance to all that are involved in this war, we make think it is bad or good in some areas or even not agree but it is important to the future of all military people involved, I know of alot of guys that just left this year to go to iraq some of them it is a 2nd or even more deployment and I thank them every minute of everyday for all that they do rather it be on the home front (war) or even natural distaters becuase you guys/gals do what alot of us can't do for the people that need help rather it be local / long distant we appreciate all that the military does and I am so proud of all the people I know that does what they do , It shows compassion ( human) something that should never be forgotten, not even the ones that will never be able to return home to all the people they left behind, even the ones that have gotten hurt , IN ALL THE WARS THAT WERE FOUGHT AND THAT EVER WILL BE THANK OUR STARS AND STRIPES FOR ALL THE HELP OUT OTHERS IN THE WORLD RATHER IT BE MILITARY ,CIVILLIAN, OR ANY OTHER ORGINIZATION IN THIS WORLD!

Welcome back! Be greatful to be back. And as unfair as it might sound in the case of your brother in law, military policy does not make acceptions for child birth, unless it is a distressed pregnacy. As soldiers it is ones duty to serve. We do what must be done and should not question the decisions of the command. For me, I know what I was getting into when I signed up, So I have no gripes.

"Doc", say's go to the aid station inotherwards, the VAMC to download all the emotional crap. Trust me, you have some whether you know it or not and it's better to be proactive then reactive. If you have problems sleeping, eating, drinking, or feel yourself coming to the cracking point, go get help. I know that your hurting; feel lost, it will get worse before it gets better. However, you were given incredible survival skills, now exercise them. Don't be hard on yourself, be forgiving of the trials that you went through. "Doc" understands. WE will build a NETWORK of VETS TO HELP transition them back into society.
Doc
Thank GOD your HOME,

Hey, for some its a choice to grow up and move away from their not so good lives and for some its in their blood. One will never fully understand why boys/men want to serve this country and fight in wars over there and on the home front but i thank god that they do. So, instead of trying to figure out why they do lets figure out how to get each and everyone of them home safe and back to their family...

Your home man. Thank heavens! I to was there. Back home now with problems of my own, but I still think of our brothern over there. My personal views on the war are not important, but my two cents is that you are home for a reason. What ever it is, it is important. Sorry LabLuvr, but chain of command or not, we all have a reason for being here, bbgunner - your's is not over there... embrace life here and get on with it...
Later, Steve

If your looking at asking "VETS" for info as to the 5 W's? Please try and understand that there are times that not even the most seasoned Vet is wanting to,nor, willing to bring up their military job or past.I am also one of those Vet's that gave everything, and signed the dotted line for one reason............ "Honor".
I have lost many Friends in my lifetime with the military,YET?I don't care to read it in softback books. Why can't everyone else(Those that don't sign up with the miltary for a year or two, because it was their "Patriotic Duty?) just grab hold of reality and come to the conclusion that "The REAL DEAL" is the men and women that have sacrificed so much to proect the few that don't want to be protected. You all are the first one's to Piss,Moan and complain that not enough is being done in a day,YET?
Thanks for showing your TRUE SIDE.I've ALWAYS been proud to call U.S.A my home, Yet? I still feel that the present day prejudice is still in effect as it was when our soldier's came back from Nam........
Y'all have a great life.......Don't ask me nor any of MY Soldier's to put their lives on the line again for YOU.

Not sure what you're looking to get an answer to, but the system does seem a bit unfair at times. However, remember that the cahin of command is making a decision based on the overall posture of the unit for operations, not the convenience of the individual. DeeZee, drop me a line and I'll put you in touch with a few folks.
Gunner,

Hi, Just read your blog. Could you tell me why you chose to join the military in the first place. I ask sincerely because I'm doing some research for a book and trying to understand why one would make the choice. Thanks
