I was in High School when the Beirut bombing went down and I gained a Marine Penpal from that experience. His name was Corporal Scott Beal. Unfortunately, I lost track but I'm hoping we somehow meet each other again...

I know that you love your country and your family...but both you and I know that our children and our lives are sacrafices made for the larger good...Our Government doesn't care what happens to you or your family, it is the objective that must be obtained and soo often it is our children and as SOLDIERS our personal interests that come last...I don't knock you, infact, I understand completely...If a family make it work while in the military, they can make it work anywhere. But the TRUE test is the WORK. By the time your done with military stuff, your time with your family is usually spent asleep or planning for the next day. However, I know the loyalty you feel and I too feel it and it will never DIE as long as I have air in my lungs. Doc

I to am an american soldier and I haave spent the last 19+ years defending my country and supporting the values of freedom for others. In the beginning this was the sole reason I joined, however, over time I came to relize that the military was not only a way of lifem but it was one of the best places to raise a family. My children are smart and have strong values engrained in them which stem from the wisdom that each of us learn throughout our life experiences. I am reaching the end of it, but I know that I will always be a part of the military and it will surely be a part of me.
