" Insperation "
For all the free people that still protest ,your welcome. We protect you & you are protected by the best.Your voice is strong & loud...but who will fight for you? No one in your crowd. We are your fathers, brothers ,mothers & daughters & nieghbors wearing the boots & carrying the guns.We are the ones that leave all we own,to make sure your future is carved in stone. We are the ones who fight & die.We might not be able to save the world but we try.We walked the paths to where we are at & we want no choice other than that.So when you rally your group to complain.Take a good look in the back of your brain. In order for that flag you love to fly.Wars must be fought & troops must die.We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.If thats not respected we would rather stay here.So please stop yelling & put down your signs & pray for those behind enemy lines. When the conflict is over & all is well...be thankful that we choose to go through hell.

When I think of a war protestor, I can't help but think of Cindy Sheehan. The poor woman lost her son in Iraq. For a parent, it has to be the worst thing that could happen. It makes me empathize with what I am putting my mother through. However, her son died fighting for a cause he believed in and defending our nation. Defending her very right to protest. His sacrifice should be honored, not used to protest the war he volunteered to fight for.

So " Insperation" is a very nice way to express these sentiments and thank you for writing it.

Holy crimminy crickets!! I totally had written out this whole thought out response and after I hit spell check it disappeared.
well who knows maybe it will post anyhow?? but just incase..
points:
-my husband served over there twice so I know what you mean Aussie. To this day I have too many friends there. I have had friends being sent to the mid east for the past 15 years! More than a few who are piolits and are not only good for target practice while there, they are also the ones who have to do a lot of the things being protested. they give 110% to their jobs yet can still see the validity in quetioning our presence there and our President.

-Mainly I just don't think war protestors should be lumped together as a bunch soft headed fools who are ignorant of the freedoms they have because of our government. I think there are protestors out there who I don't agree with and can't even beign to imagine where they get their info from. BUT i think most protestors would be more in the gray area like myself. Supportive of our military but not so much of the tired tactics used by our president.

Ugh, I'm loosing my steam here... my butt is going a little numb...

It's a hard problem to figure out and I don't want to come off as someone who doesn't support the military, I just don't think it is all that productive to slam on protestors. I'm sorry I didn't see the "poem" as beautiful or inspirational. I saw it more as condeming and brother upon brother. Everything has its own time and place though.

okay I've lost sight now... the butt numbness is over comming me.

jsut call me switzerland.

Let me put it to you in black and white Sarah. I will personally drop any person who is protesting the war the day my guy leaves. He strongly believes in what he is doing and has the balls to stand up for those beliefs. If these protestors had any respect for the soldiers at all they would acknowledge their belief in what they are doing and find a productive way in which to voice their opinions.

Is "insperation" suppose to mean inspiration ??

Are we saying that no one in the military is against this war we have been in for way too long or against the president who has kept us there. I think you would be mistaken there. As patriots we will follow our countries leaders and support our armed forces... it is what being a patroit is about, right?? maybe.. Isn't it also our responsibility, as patriots, to raise voice when we think a terrible wrong is being commited and to rise up and demand action? To just sit silently by and let the leaders do as they will no matter the consequences would make the U.S. no better than any country ruled by a common dictatorship. though I don't agree with the tactics and beliefes of all war protestors nor do I believe that they should all be shamed into silence. And not that I would ever protest a funeral but I have got to tell you it turns my blood hot to think of the fact that the president has not attended one funeral resulting from this war and the white house has banded tv networks from showing caskets of fallen soliders from this war. I protest against hiding the fact that people die in this war as much as in any other war. I protest our countries leaders trying to cover this up. And I protest blindly bleiving everthing you read and see through US media. I say to oppress protestors here is hypocritical to the reason behind why we are told we are fighting in the war in the first place. Freedom to voice your opinions without the threat of violence and danger is supposedly something our troops fight to give other countries.

To each their own...

Saw the best comment at the end of an email the other day...

'If you can't stand behind the troops, feel free to stand in front of them'

Think about it

You can protest the war...but DONT protest against the men and women who wear the uniform... !!!! Those who stand up and picket fallen soldiers funerals, or stand on the street corners protesting against the troops and war.. all need a wake up call.. you dont have to support the war..but those are our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts,uncles.. friends over there .. if you have the odacity to protest against them ..pack your bags find the next flight out...cause the US is made up of all those people who the men and women are over there fighting for..And those who picket the funerals of fallen soldiers need a major wake up call.. that soldier died protecting YOUR freedom.. how dare you line the streets...they didnt have a problem going over to fight for your freedom... they deserve to be laid to rest peacefully as their families deserve to mourne peacefully.. My thoughts are if you cant support the troops over there then you dont have the right to call yourself an american.. can I help ya pack your bags?? Im not for the war..but I am a troop supporter .. and always will be :)

Interesting concept isn't it...

To actually ask if the soldiers want to have people protesting to bring them home.

Protestors are talkers - not walkers.

Protestors need to stop shaking their head and saying "What a waste" and start saying to grieving families "you should be so proud...."

Good onya Secretive Kitty
